The Devoted Man

I

He calls it true love,

while slipping through other doors—

loyalty, disguised

II

She is fighting storms,

while he gathers other mouths

and calls himself hers.

III

Then another speaks—

suddenly he bares his teeth,

guarding what he breaks.

IV

Strange kind of hero:

betraying her in the dark,

defending by day.
