POEM: Apparat

Apparat

Further away —

that’s you,

smaller

when I go,

because I’m

smaller

when you go.

It seems

people have a worse time of it.

Honesty—

a losing move.

The cog doesn’t care.

It processes you—

continues.

I’m gone.

Keep meter.

I.

Three years is a long time to away myself.

I’ve been alone long enough

to know its meaning.

If you come back

you think me a home.

If you come back the same way,

you think me a joke.

I’ve been the focus of idiots.

I’ve been judged by the dumb.

II.

Have integrity

whether you love God or not.

You have your face

looking back at you

in the mirror

greet it clean

every sunrise.

III.

slowly you become smaller

it was your character

that was flawed

through your script.

It’s mine

that’s vindicated

through my own love.

Enjoy stupidity

Fish.

There are a million in the ocean.

Splash.

Now you’re one.
